Black Knights are an intimidating presence in any fight, towering over foes with their huge armor and terrifying reputation. Epitomizing the principles of physical defense and protecting allies first learned as Soldiers, these warriors use the power of the Black Wind to force enemies to fight on their terms.

The Black Knights of Kysei are infamous for being nigh unkillable, a reputation that has seen them hired as bodyguards for wealthy individuals.

Additional Lore[]

The Black Wind is an otherworldly gale from the Void, that seems to passively swirl around a Black Knight as they fight. It is seen as a minor magic, so no real aptitude for being a mage is required and it may be a simple task to learn it under the right training, although the hard part is actually mastering it.

Once mastered, the mystic qualities of the Black Wind grants a Black Knight an immense help in combat, the many uses of Black Wind can result in either the power of Negation, which allows them to perform many supernatural features, such as steering lethal blows away from their course, force enemies to move through sheer force, deny additional effects from weaponry and even sap an enemy of their strength. Sometimes even teleportation is capable, although with shorter distances and lesser risks than actual Voidgates.

Given this is merely wind which comes from the Void, and not Void Energy itself, Black Knights are unheard to suffer from Void Poisoning from it, though it is also theorized that it's due to the protection of their Heavy Armors, or their previous endurance training to achieve a more fitting body to steer this power more naturally, and mainly because the effects of Black Wind are merely brief and fleeting.

  • Chess puns!
  • They have some skills that cleanse debuffs, such as Fear, Hesitation, Charm, Poison, Rampaging and also a way to completely negate On-Hit/On-Critical effects from the enemy's equipment, through Steel Aura.
  • They have wide AoE pulls and two gap-closers, which are good to save momentum if the enemy is close or just adjacent to your position.
  • Stalemate is a frontal parry that uses Scaled DEF to increase its chance of happening, that not only reduces damage taken by 50%, but also applies Flatfoot if your main weapon's weight is 15 or more.
  • Tons of free Critical Evade with Negation (As long as they wear Heavy Armor, or are a Dullahan). Needless to say, they're the natural counters to critical hit-relying classes, such as Duelists and Void Assassins.
  • They're able to protect allies with Castling and Sacrifice when it matters, and lower damage from dangerous enemies through Black Drain.

  • Being in close range means they'll be swarmed by enemies the moment an opportunity arises. But such is the life of a Tank-like combatant. Just know when to retreat!
  • They have no means to increase their Resistance, making them very susceptible to magic damage most of the time.
  • The class may sometimes rely on the sub-class to cover it's weaknesses, which sometimes may or not be a drawback.
  • For relying mostly on Defense instead of Evade, a well-placed Buster Cannon from an Arbalest can ruin a Black Knight's day. (Unless you use steel body)

Requires level 20+ Soldier Class.

  • While in battle, move in an L shape (exactly like a Knight piece in chess).
    • Note, Teleportation from equipment such as Mercury Boots, will not qualify as movement for unlocking.
